This endeavour included a building expansion and upgrade for the Francis-Bouillon arena, replacing the Freon-based refrigeration systems with an ammonia-based, GHG-free system. The project also focused on LEED Silver certification, in accordance with the sustainable development policy for municipal buildings. In addition, Unigesco implemented energy efficiency measures to recover energy from the refrigeration system to heat domestic water, and replaced the lighting above the rink to reduce energy usage. Work on the arena included repairs to ceilings, side boards, and seating areas. Coordinating mechanical and refrigeration work was a major challenge in this project.
