The building inherited by the Montréal Biodôme was first opened for the 1976 Olympic Games. Thirty years later, Unigesco completed major renovations on the building. According to the director of Espace pour la vie, “The Biodôme migration is not a facade alteration. It’s a change in the way we approach our own relationship with nature.” The new concept focuses on more immersive, participatory, and innovative experiences that awaken the senses and offer visitors alternative perspectives on ecosystems. Unigesco successfully met all challenges related to such a complex construction site. In its new iteration, an impressive mezzanine now offers the public a bird’s-eye view of the Biodôme’s three breathtaking ecosystems.
